Taylor Devices Is Proud To Have Been Part Of The Artemis II Mission

As the Artemis II mission concluded this evening with the Orion spacecraft safely landing in the Pacific Ocean, we pause to reflect on the significance of this historic achievement. It is a privilege to have played even a small role in such a milestone. Over the past 10 days, the Artemis mission has inspired and united people across the country, serving as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary things humanity can accomplish together.

Taylor Devices has been supplying products to NASA since the 1960s during the Apollo program, where a specialized Umbilical Swing Arm Energy Absorber was designed for the launch pad. Now, nearly 60 years after that first Moon landing, we are excited to be a part of humanity’s return to the Moon through the Artemis program. This time, our products will be flying on the Space Launch System (SLS) Rocket.

Taylor Devices supplies a series of 6 highly specialized isolators for each launch, which are installed between the launch abort motor ogive (fairing) and the Orion Crew Capsule, right near the top of the SLS Rocket. This isolation system protects the Crew Capsule from the harsh shock and vibration that occurs during launch. Additionally, several different energy absorbers, similar to those used during the Space Shuttle Program, are used for various systems on the launch pad to protect the rocket from wind-induced motions and during launch.

A continued partnership is no accident. Over the past several decades, we at Taylor Devices have developed a reputation for creating innovative and elegant solutions. Our attention to detail and on-time delivery spans across all our product lines, from landing gear, shock absorbers, and isolators for the aerospace and defense markets, to civil applications such as seismic dampers that are used to protect buildings during earthquakes.

While we celebrate with the world on the success of the Artemis II mission and welcome home those brave astronauts, we also celebrate the success of our team here at Taylor Devices for their continued dedication to making us exceptional through quality craftsmanship from design and manufacture to inspection and testing.

Congratulations to NASA and Thank You To Our Taylor Team!

Thank You!
