Designing for Dissipation

This article in Modern Steel Construction from AISC was written to give engineers advice on designing buildings for seismic energy dissipation using fluid viscous dampers and ASCE 7 alternative procedures.

In conjunction with this article, Aaron Malatesta, P.E. will also be presenting at NASCC: The Steel Conference in Atlanta, GA on April 20, 2020. Learn about updates to future versions of the building code and how supplemental damping that uses fluid viscous dampers will serve to provide a cost-efficient building structure that is protected not only from catastrophic failure but also from costly repairs.

Be sure to register for this conference today. NASCC: The Steel Conference is the premier educational and networking event for the structural steel industry, bringing together structural engineers, structural steel fabricators, erectors, detailers, and architects.
