This project consisted of the addition of a new 1-story theater to the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles, California.
This addition is seismically separated from the existing concrete structure and has a lateral force resisting system of special steel moment frame with supplemental damping. The story height is over 35 feet, so the FVDs were used to help control the story drift and allow for smaller steel sections and foundations.
